LegalHow ShipOtter collects, uses, and protects information — including data accessed through connected sales channels and shipping carriers.
Last updated: June 12, 2026
ShipOtter ("ShipOtter," "we," "us," or "our") provides multi-channel shipping and order-fulfillment software. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website at shipotter.com and our application at app.shipotter.com (together, the "Service").
This policy covers two groups: (a) our customers — the businesses and users who create a ShipOtter account to manage their shipping; and (b) their buyers — the end customers whose order and shipping details flow into ShipOtter from connected sales channels so that labels can be generated and orders fulfilled. Where ShipOtter handles a buyer's information, we act as a service provider/processor on behalf of the merchant who uses our Service.
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and a securely hashed password. We never store passwords in plain text.
Company and shipping settings. Information you enter to operate your account, such as your company name and your ship-from (warehouse) address.
Order data from connected sales channels. When you connect a marketplace or store (for example, eBay or Walmart Marketplace), we retrieve order information needed to fulfill and ship those orders. This can include order numbers, item details, order totals, the buyer's name and shipping address, and order/fulfillment status. We retrieve this data using credentials and tokens you authorize through each platform's official, secure authorization process.
Carrier and label data. When you request shipping rates or labels, we send the necessary shipment details (origin, destination, weight, dimensions) to the carrier you've connected (for example, FedEx) and receive back rates, tracking numbers, and labels.
Authorization tokens. To connect a channel or carrier on your behalf, we store the access and refresh tokens those platforms issue. These let ShipOtter sync your orders without re-asking for your login each time. You can disconnect a channel or carrier at any time, which revokes our ongoing access.
Usage and device data. On our marketing website we use lightweight analytics to understand how visitors use the site (for example, pages viewed). See "Analytics" below.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not sell or share buyers' personal information for advertising.
When you connect a third-party platform, your use of that platform remains subject to the platform's own terms and privacy policy. ShipOtter accesses only the data needed to provide shipping and fulfillment features, uses it only for those purposes, and retains it only as long as needed to provide the Service to you. We honor disconnection: when you remove a connection, we stop retrieving new data from that platform and revoke the stored tokens.
We share information only as needed to run the Service:
We protect information using industry-standard measures, including encryption of traffic in transit (HTTPS/TLS), hashed passwords, access tokens stored separately from application code, restricted server access, and strict per-account data isolation. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information and continually improve our safeguards.
We keep account and order data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. You can request deletion of your account data as described below; some records may be retained where required by law.
Our marketing website uses a privacy-respecting analytics tool to measure aggregate usage (such as page views). This helps us understand what's useful and improve the site. We do not use this data to build advertising profiles. You can block analytics with standard browser controls or tracker-blocking extensions.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below. If you are a buyer whose data reached ShipOtter through a merchant's store, please contact that merchant; we will assist them in responding.
You can disconnect any sales channel or carrier from within the app at any time, which stops future syncing and revokes stored access tokens.
The Service is intended for businesses and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
We operate in the United States, and information we process may be stored and handled there. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., you understand your information may be transferred to and processed in the U.S.
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
